Thinking about democracy

Sir Winston Churchill once said, “It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried.”

Anyone who has lived in, or who lives in a democracy, knows that it is far from perfect. In a universe where perfection is scarce, where people aren’t inherently perfect, it should be no surprise, since it is a man-made system.

One definition of democracy is: Form of government, where a constitution guarantees basic personal and political rights, fair and free elections, and independent courts of law.

Democracy is also largely free from direct religious influence ie, democracies are secular states. As soon as a religion becomes part of the function in government, democracy decreases or disappears.

As I write, the once secular state of Turkey is increasingly becoming Islamized.  Ataturk, the father of Turkey had the amazingly good sense to keep religion and politics at arms length, despite the fact that a large majority of Turks is Muslim. In Turkey you see a progressive country that works well because people are free to attain their greatest strengths.

There are 40 majority muslim countries with a variety of different styles of government from secular to theocracy. The degree of freedom people have within these countries varies. While we have heard people in Middle Eastern muslim countries calling for democracy during the so-called “Arab Spring” uprisings, I wonder how many of those people really know what democracy means.

The political and legal aspect of Islam is not democratic. If those people demonstrating think they will achieve a high degree of democracy by getting rid of the dictators who were running their countries and installing such organisations as the Muslim Brotherhood, they are greatly deluded.

Review the table at left and you’ll see a comparison between Communism, Islam and Naziism as totalitarian regimes.  By far the most limiting of individual rights is Islam. It is true that Islamic doctrine and Sharia are enforced to differing degrees around the world and in the same way that Christians have chosen to turn a blind eye to the horrors of the Old Testament, not everyone who commits adultery in more advanced muslim countries is murdered. However, the potential is there and there are still cases reported weekly of violent acts against people directly because of Islamic doctrine.

There are some aspects of Islamic countries I like eg, the lack of or reduction in lewdity and absence of alcohol-related stupidity and crime etc are something we could all benefit from. However, when you give someone true freedom, you also have to accept that they will not use their freedom of choice wisely. Better that than being under the thumb of an oppressive regime like Islam.

Learning the Truth About Islam

Islam is destroying the worldWhen you are at war, it is important to understand your enemy. We in the free, democratic West are at war with Islam, but unfortunately, many people either won’t admit it, don’t understand it, or deny it. You have a duty to yourself and your country (which provides freedom and democracy and separation of religion and government) to learn as much as you can about our common enemy.

So, you think I’m some sort of radical nutter who hates Islam? Well, you are part right. I don’t subscribe to any religion because I believe they are superstitious nonsense invented to help people feel better about living in a world they don’t understand. However I do believe in peoples right to follow whatever nonsense they want, provided they don’t try to force it on me. That’s where me and Islam have a problem.

Islam is a system of totalitarian control just like the Nazis were. Islam wants to take over the world and subdue each and every one of us. If people in Islamic countries want to follow the stupidity of Islam, I don’t have a problem. But I don’t want Australia to be forced into being an Islamic Caliphate.

If you feel the same you need to develop your knowledge of Islam, Islamists and what they have in mind for us, perhaps in your life time.

The ways to do that are shown below (thanks to Citizen Warrior):

I have a possible solution. We’ve created several useful resources and many people in the counterjihad haven’t yet heard of them. We need to get the word out. These are tools for the Resistance.

If you wish to accept this mission, go to blogs, web sites, Facebook pages, Yahoo Answers, etc., and promote the following:

1. The Pledge: This is a pledge people can sign online, pledging to read the Koran to find out for themselves what Islam is about. Read more about the Pledge.

2. WhatYouCanDoAboutIslam.com: This is a list of practical actions an ordinary citizen can take to help stop Islam’s relentless encroachment.

3. Inquiry into Islam: This is a simple site covering basic information about Islam, and the content has been made user-friendly for people who don’t know much about Islam.

4. Answers to objections: This is for people already committed to doing the one thing that needs to be done most, which is talking to their immediate social circle about Islam. It’s a list of objections people will give you when you talk about Islam, and provides possible ways to answer each objection.

5. Principles of influence: This is also for people committed to the Resistance. It’s a growing list of ideas to help us improve our effectiveness at changing the hearts and minds of those who don’t want to believe the truth about the third jihad.

6. Approach training: This is a growing list of ideas for how to approach conversations about Islam with non-Muslims to create the best possible response.

7. Talk about Islam among non-Muslims: This is a forum for non-Muslims who are committed to sharing what they know about Islam with other non-Muslims. It is a place we can help and support and coach each other in this challenging task.

8. Stop Muslim immigration petition: This is the first step all free nations must take. So says Robert Spencer. And Geert Wilders, and many other experts on Islam’s prime directive who have the guts to speak the truth. Achieving the goal of stopping Muslim immigration is probably a long way off, but one first step would be to sign a petition to show politicians that there is a large percentage of the population who would support a change in immigration policy. The effort to get others to sign it is a great opening for explaining some basic facts about Islam (by inviting them to sign it and answering their question when they ask why).

9. Basic Principles of Islam: This is a great resource to share with people who don’t know much about Islam. And it is also a resource for you to use when you’re making a point and don’t want to have to explain it in depth. You can simply link to one of the principles.

10. What educated Muslims don’t like about Islam in a nutshell: This is a very short but very informative and well-linked explanation of what it is exactly that we don’t like about Islamic doctrine.

11. What makes Islam so successful? (or the terrifying brilliance of Islam): The Terrifying Brilliance is the most popular article in Citizen Warrior. It is thorough. It is long. But it gets through to people and is now available as a printable PDF document, making it easier to share in some contexts. What Makes Islam So Successful is a version of the same article that has been made user-friendly for those not yet educated about Islam.

So your mission, if you decide to accept it, is to find places, conversations, articles, and posts where it is appropriate to promote one of these resources — ideally find a place where it provides an answer to a problem.

For example, you may see a thread where a counterjihadist is arguing with a Muslim. Simply interject this comment: “To all non-Muslims reading this, answer your questions by reading the Koran yourself. Everything else is second-hand knowledge, subject to bias and spin. Take the pledge and read the Koran.” And leave a link to the pledge.

Promote these tools to others. Make comments and leave links. The more people who know about them, the more good they can do.

Acquit Geert Wilders (Editorial)

The following article appeared in the US press yesterday:

Western countries need to defend Western civilization

Dutch member of Parliament Geert Wilders is on trial in the Netherlands for “incitement to hatred and discrimination.” His crime was daring to criticize Islam.

Mr. Wilders is the head of the Party for Freedom, the third-largest political party in the Netherlands and part of a new Dutch coalition government. The party platform is blatantly nationalistic, seeking immigration controls and other restrictions on the Netherlands’ non-native population, particularly the country’s 850,000 Muslims who hail largely from Turkey and Morocco. “We have to stop the tsunami of Islamization,” says Mr. Wilders. “It is affecting our heart, our identity, our culture.”

The brutal excesses of the 20th century made nationalism a bad word. The Netherlands suffered acutely under the Nazi yoke during World War II, and as a result, postwar Dutch society was cosmopolitan and tolerant to a fault. The laws under which Mr. Wilders is being prosecuted are a reflection of this mindset.

Much has changed since the end of that horrible war 65 years ago. Today, Holland is facing an issue all countries must come to grips with in the age of globalization, namely determining what about their culture is unique and worthy of preservation. Open borders, demographic shifts and contemporary global communications all contribute to the dilution of national character worldwide, for good or ill. Countries that don’t seek actively to preserve their national character will become simply names on a map. The homogenization of global culture is particularly acute for smaller countries like the Netherlands, which risk being absorbed into a bland international omniculture or being taken over by foreigners who refuse to assimilate.

Islam is unique among the world’s largest religious orientations in that it seeks to impose a comprehensive worldview not only on its adherents but on humanity in general.

To its true believers, Islam is above politics, and the rules that govern civil society should be subordinate to the strictures of the Koran. Dutch Minister of Justice Piet Hein Donner came under widespread criticism in 2006 when he said Shariah might come to the Netherlands through democratic means. He didn’t understand that would amount to the end of freedom in his country.

The supremacy of Shariah is an alien notion in the West. In the centuries after the wars of religion and in the aftermath of the secularizing French Revolution, faith became separate from – and in many cases subordinate to – government. Last week, President Obama said the United States “is still predominantly Christian” but has other faiths whose “path to grace is one that we have to revere and respect as much as our own.” That’s a Western liberal viewpoint; it’s not the position of Islam. To Muslims, other faiths are never revered. Mr. Wilders is right to say Islam is totalitarian in spirit. Muslim clerics teach that every aspect of human existence is subject to Koranic guidance, and these rules should apply to everyone whether they are Muslims or not.

Mr. Wilders is being prosecuted for believing there is something uniquely Dutch under attack that’s worthy of being preserved. The same could be said about that which is Italian, British, German, Spanish, Danish, Swedish, French or American. That Mr. Wilders faces trial for this belief shows some aren’t willing to have this discussion, but all countries will face it eventually. Western tolerance shouldn’t be a suicide pact.

What is Shari’a Law?

“As Sharia is applied to a society, the host civilization is annihilated in each and every manifestation of culture. This annihilation is demonstrated by a peculiar fact about the history of Islamic countries-part of it is missing.”

This article written by Bill Warner, Director of the Center for the Study of Political Islam is long, but well worth reading if you really want to know something about Shari’a and Islam in general:

“Sharia, the Islamic legal code, is devoted to regulating the life of Muslims in every detail — sex, food, art, business, education, prayer, manners, speech and how to think and not to think. All aspects of life—religion, politics, ethics, culture—are within the bounds of Sharia. It is the operating manual for a complete civilization. And the civilization of Sharia is not just different, it contradicts our civilization.

THE CIVILIZATION OF ISLAM

One of the clearest lessons about Islam is found in the Sharia. The largest part of the Sharia is devoted to regulating the life of Muslims down to the smallest detail. There is no aspect of life that is not regulated-sex, food, art, business, education, prayer, manners, speech and how to think and not to think. There is no aspect of life that is outside the power of Sharia-religion, politics, ethics, culture are included. The Sharia is the operating manual for a complete civilization. Islam is complete within itself and needs nothing from the outside.

The Sharia has one other quality that is as important as the totality of its scope. The civilization of Sharia is not just different, it contradicts our civilization.

Inside Islam justice, religion, politics, law, human rights and compassion do not mean what they mean to us. All of these ideas are based on the principles of submission and duality as found in the Sharia. Read more here.

Learning About Islam Essential for Survival

Indian muslims prayingMany of the followers of religions are often ignorant of the core principles and values of those religions. This is particularly true of Islam. The Quran was written in Arabic, but most muslims aren’t Arabs and don’t read or write Arabic.

They learn by word of mouth and are compelled to believe what they are told. They aren’t allowed to question the teachings. Blind obedience is required at every step and as we all know, it’s not permitted to leave the religion once they have been caught up in it.

If some of the billion plus people who are muslims knew more about Islam, they would probably stop practising. Islam is not simply a religion, it is a system of total control of one’s thoughts and life, a totalitarian system. Because it is a totalitarian system, it is a huge threat to everyone who isn’t muslim, or who isn’t sufficiently muslim.

In the West where we are free and democratic, we are under threat of an Islamic takeover
. We are at war and it’s not only the war with suicide bombers and the Taliban, it’s the war from within our countries where Islamists are subtly working to take over our countries and force all of us to live under their Shari’a Law.

Everyone who lives in a modern, free, democratic society needs to learn about their enemy … Islam. While there are increasing numbers of sites now warning us of Islamic takeover, the best site to learn about Islam in a non-emotive way is at An Inquiry Into Islam.

The information there is accurate and balanced and the writing is superb. If you aren’t knowlegeable about Islam, you need to go there now: http://www.inquiryintoislam.com

Don’t leave it until it’s too late.
